I left Avignon at 1000 via a quiet and efficient TGV and arrived at Gare de Lyon - Paris - about 45 minutes ago. The cab driver was wonderful and somehow we managed to communicate quite well. He also pointed out the sights, Notre Dame and others, and I landed here at the charming Grand Hotel Leveque. It happened just as planned. I had seen the elevator of this hotel on line and it is exactly the same. Tiny with room for only one person. I could not even take both of my bags up at the same time! Not for claustrophobics. The other choice is taking the tiny spiral staircase - here in a photo - 75 steps down from my room on the 4th floor.
The hostess at the front desk said I could use my computer if I bought a drink. Today it is orange juice. I maxed out on wine this week! But I mustn't dilly dally. There are sights to see right outside this door.
